Good Wheel Ceramics - Meet the Maker

My name is Jody and I'm the owner and maker behind Good Wheel Ceramics. I decided to take my first pottery class in 2018 as a newcomer in Atlanta for my public health masters program.

Like so many, 2020 flipped my world upside down. I went from an aspiring public health professional to studio potter. I love what I do and I'm passionate about clay.

Meet the Maker

The Goods

Proudly made on Vancouver Island.

Good Wheel Ceramics makes functional pottery that is not only pleasing to the eye, but feels good to hold and use. Our goal is to elevate everyday experiences through our ceramics, turning moments into cherished memories.

All of our pottery is made on the wheel and individually glazed, meaning that no two pieces are exactly the same. The dimensions and glaze finish might vary slightly from piece to piece--handmade qualities we embrace.

As a small-batch artist, our goods are created with the utmost of care. As a result, we are proud of each piece, both for its function and unique beauty. We source our clay from North American manufacturers before hand making, trimming, glazing and firing all of our pieces in our home studio on Vancouver Island. We use a variety of glazes, commercial and in-house recipes, while still allowing the natural beauty of the raw clay to show.

Pottery is a time consuming craft. Each piece is stored and dried slowly to avoid cracking, fired 2-3 times in an electric kiln, and many steps in between before it is ready for its new home. The pricing of our handmade ceramics reflects a thorough consideration of the time and effort invested in each piece.
